Root Mash Recipe


Delicious creamy root mash made with potatoes, carrots, and turnips.

Inspired by Alias Grace and Nightwoods

Prep Time:  15 minutes      Cook Time:  20 minutes      Serves: 6

Root Mash

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs mixed root vegetables, peeled & cut into chunks (potatoes, carrots, and turnips)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 cup warm cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the root vegetables in large saucepan and cover with cold water.  Add 1 tablespoon of salt and bring to a boil.
  2. Cook until root vegetables can be pierced with a sharp knife, about 12 to 20 minutes.
  3. Drain well and return to pot.
  4. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper and mash together.
