Wild Rice Recipe

A hearty flavorful rice that is perfect for Thanksgiving or just a relaxing meal at home.

Prep:  15 minutes | Cook: 45 minutes | Serves: 8

Thanksgiving Wild Rice


  • 2 cups uncooked wild rice (can substitute a wild rice/brown rice medley)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 bunch of green onion, finely minced
  • 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely minced (occasionally I substitute 2 jalapenos, seeded and minced)
  • 1/2 pound of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried tarragon
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper


  1. Rinse rice well and cook rice according to package instructions.
  2. Meanwhile, in a heavy saucepan, melt butter and saute onion, pepper  and mushrooms for 5 minutes.  Stir in sour cream and heavy cream.  Add remaining herbs and seasonings.
  3. Stir in wild rice and heat through.
