Szechuan Long Beans Recipe

Green beans can be substituted for Chinese long beans in this Szechuan recipe.

Prep Time:  10 minutes | Cook Time:  10 minutes | Serves: 4-6

  • 1 pound Chinese long beans (green beans can be substituted)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon hot chili sauce, such as Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil


  1. Was the beans, drain and trim off ends.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of peanut oil over medium heat in wok.  Add beans and stir fry for about 7 minutes when beans start to brown.  Remove beans to paper towel to drain.
  3. Heat the remaining tablespoon of peanut oil.  Add minced garlic, ginger and green onion.  Stir fry for several seconds, the add hot chili sauce and stir fry for several more seconds.  Add beans, soy sauce, sugar, salt and pepper.  Stir fry for about 10 seconds, then serve immediately.
