Yorkshire Pudding Pop-ups are prepared from a pancake-like batter and baked in a mini muffin pan filled with hot grease or oil. They are crispy on the outside and light on the inside. The hot grease causes the pudding to pop-up during baking. Traditionally served with roast beef, but goes well with soup or stew as well.

Falafel (fa’lafel) is a Middle-Eastern dish of deep fried chickpea balls. The chickpeas are mashed and seasoned then fried to golden brown. Falafel is often served stuffed into pita bread with fresh vegetables or with a dipping sauce.

Israeli Pitot (Pita) Bread Recipe

Freshly made pitot or pita bread to stuff with your favorite meats and/or vegetables is easy to prepare and so much better than the blah tasting pita pockets available at the grocery store. The pocket is created by the steam that puffs the dough up during cooking. Pitot also stores well in the refrigerator or freezer.

This Spanish open-faced sandwich is made with jamón serrano ham on a crusty bread. Jamón serrano ham is the pride of Spain. Cured for over a year and served in paper-thin slices. German Butterball Soup Recipe

German Butterball Soup is a recipe that Russian German immigrants introduced to the Great Plains. The butterballs are made with stale bread and butter and are seasoned with allspice. They are usually simmered in a clear chicken stock, but for this soup recipe, I added chicken and mixed vegetables. For a more traditional butterball soup, just omit the chicken and vegetables.

Simple Cabbage Strudel Recipe

This is a simplified Cabbage Strudel recipe made with phyllo sheets rather than a yeast dough. It’s delicious and doesn’t take long to prepare since you aren’t working with yeast. The phyllo adds a delicate, buttery crunch to a basic sautéed cabbage recipe.
