Korean Steamed Buns Recipe

| by Annie | appetizers, main dishes

My daughter Amy and I can nearly wipe out the entire batch of these Korean steamed buns in one sitting. They are so delicious, and although a tiny bit time consuming, they are not at all difficult to prepare. Experiment with different seasonings, vegetables and meats until you find your own favorite combination. These stuffed and steamed buns can be served as an appetizer or main dish.

Scottish Beef Stovies Recipe

June 28, 2016 | by Marilyn | main dishes

In The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley, Carrie, the main character is served a roast of beef with carrots and roasted potatoes. I found a recipe for Stovies, which is described as a classic Scottish dish which makes use of leftovers (meat, fat, vegetables) to create an entirely new dish. For this recipe I used leftover pot roast and added carrots to make it more like the meal Carrie was served. I also increased the amount of meat significantly because it was what I had leftover, and the amount seemed to be just right.

Mrs. LBJ’s Texas Chili Recipe

June 23, 2016 | by Annie | main dishes

“Chili concocted outside of Texas is usually a weak, apologetic imitation of the real thing. One of the first things I do when I get home to Texas is to have a bowl of red. There is simply nothing better.”
– Lyndon B. Johnson, 36th President of the United States

Roast Beef with Tatties and Neeps Recipe

May 27, 2016 | by Lisa | main dishes

Tatties and neeps are Scottish for potatoes and turnips.  The amount of veggies in the recipe are just guidelines. You can use as many as you wish, as long as they all fit in the pan (or just put them in a different pan like I did with the roasted carrots that I served with this dish).

Meat Pasty Appetizer Recipe

March 9, 2016 | by Lisa | appetizers

Traditionally, the pasty originated in Cornwall and was eaten by tin miners for lunch.   They were a meal in themselves.  For our book club party, I made them into appetizers.  The meat should be put into the pastry uncooked, but since I had to brown meat for the cottage pie tart, I cooked all the meat at once.
