S’mores Bars Recipe

A camp out and gooey S’mores go hand-in-hand, but since Texas (at the time of this post) is currently under an open fire ban due to drought conditions, traditional S’mores prepared at the camp fire were out for our recent camping trip. Unfortunately, nothing can be done about the camp fire until we get some rain, but S’mores bars can be prepared ahead of time in your own kitchen for that yummy chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker taste.

Prep: 10 minutes | Cook: 10 minutes | Yield: 24 bars



  • 2 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 10 Hershey bars, unwrapped
  • 4 1/2 cups mini-marshmallows


  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and salt. Stir in melted butter until well combined. Reserve 1 cup of the mixture for topping. Press mixture into a 9×13″ pan.
  2. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove bars from oven and lay unwrapped Hershey bars on top of hot graham cracker crust. Allow to set for just a minute. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the crust.
  3. Set oven to broil. Sprinkle marshmallows over the top and press into bars lightly. Sprinkle with reserved graham cracker crumbs. Place under broiler for about 30 seconds until marshmallows are toasted. DO NOT WALK AWAY … WATCH the S’mores bars the entire time they are under the broiler. You just want the marshmallows lightly browned NOT flaming! Remove from oven immediately and, if desired, spread the marshmallows a bit over the chocolate.
  4. Allow S’mores to cool before serving.
