A Walk About Town: Castroville

Castroville is a little gem of a town only a short 20 minute drive from downtown San Antonio. In the 1840s, the Republic of Texas granted Empresario Henri Castro permission to establish several settlements west of San Antonio. Castro recruited European settlers from Alsace and Castroville was established in 1844. Today, Castroville is known as the Little Alsace of Texas. The European influence is seen in the 19th century architecture all around town.
