Pork Chops and Apples in a Creamy Mushroom Sauce Recipe

The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society came to be because of one hidden pig. In this dish, pork chops and sliced apples are baked with a creamy mushroom sauce.

Prep:  20 minutes | Cook:  45 – 60 minutes | Serves:  6

Pork Chop Recipes


  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 6 pork chops, bone in
  • 1 granny smith apple
  • 1 Braeburn apple
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup (14.5 ounce cans)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Heat oil in skillet.  Brown pork chops on each side.  Lay in casserole dish.
  3. Thinly slice apples and lay on top of pork chops.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, buttermilk, salt and pepper.  Pour over pork chops and apples.
  5. Cover and bake for 45 – 60 minutes.
