Oven Baked Sliders Recipe

These oven baked sliders are easy to make and great for a group

Prep: 30 minutes | Cook: 10 minutes | Serves: 8

(Recipe adapted from Beef Sliders for a Crowd)

  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground chuck
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • Kosher salt
  • Coarse black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 6 slices of deli-sliced cheese, quartered
  • 2 to 3 large tomatoes, sliced thin
  • 1 medium red onion, sliced into thin rings
  • 1 package of 24 mini potato buns
  • 24 dill pickle slices
  • 4 large lettuce leaves, cut into 24 even pieces

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Sprinkle minced, dried onions around a 10-by-15-inch rimmed baking sheet.
  3. Combine the ground chuck, egg, breadcrumbs and 1 teaspoon Kosher salt in a large bowl. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture all around the baking sheet over the onions, and press them into an even layer.  Brush the top of the meat with the vegetable oil, then season it evenly with 1/2 teaspoon salt and black pepper, to taste. Score the meat into 24 squares, cutting completely through with a spatula.
  4. Bake about 8-10 minutes, until browned and no longer pink in the middle. Top each patty with a quartered cheese slice, and return to the oven to melt the cheese, about 30 seconds. Remove from oven and let rest about a minute, then recut the patties with spatula to separate.
  5. Top each patty with a slice of tomato and pickle. Slide a spatula into the pan and place each patty into a mini potato bun. Serve with lettuce, mustard, ketchup, and your other favorite condiments
