Chicken Parmesan Recipe

Any recipe with the word “Parmesan” in it is sure to please and this recipe is no exception. The chicken breasts have a slightly crispy coating and the cheese topping adds a creamy texture – a delicious combination. (By the way, did you know Chicken Parmesan originated in the U.S.?)

Prep: 15 minutes | Cook: 20 minutes | Serves: 8

  • 8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded to 1/2 inch thick
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 cups fine Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup olive oil for frying
  • 1 cup tomato or pasta sauce
  • 1/2 cup fresh mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese


  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Season chicken with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Beat the eggs with the milk in a shallow dish. In a separate dish, mix the bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Dip the chicken in the egg, then the bread crumbs, pressing the crumbs onto the chicken. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 cup olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and brown, about 4 minutes per side.
  4. Place chicken in a single layer in a baking dish. Top each with mozzarella cheese. Spread the tomato sauce over the top, then top with Parmesan cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the chicken reads at least 165° F. Serve over pasta and garnish with basil or parsley.
