Gache Melee Recipe
This is an apple dessert and a local favorite served in Guernsey. It is the perfect way to top off your dinner and your fun at your Guernsey book club party.
Inspired by The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 2 hours Servings: 6-8

Ingredients:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 stick butter
- 6 medium red apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon all spice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 egg
Instructions:

Peel and dice apples into bite size pieces.

In a large bowl, cut the butter into the flour.

Add all other dry ingredients and apples. Mix well.

Add the water and the egg and stir until well blended.
- Pour into your favorite pie dish.
- Cook at 250° for 2 hours or until crispy.
- You may want to add extra sugar and cinnamon to the top of this dish for an extra kick.
