My mom has made these Russian Tea Cakes from Betty Crocker for as long as I can remember. These buttery melt-in-your-mouth cookie balls go by many names in recipe collections, including Mexican Wedding Cakes. They always contain finely chopped nuts and are twice rolled in powdered sugar. Serve these Russian Tea Cakes with a cup of coffee for a perfect ending to your book club party.

Afghan Semolina Halwa Recipe

| by Annie | sweets

Halwa, meaning “sweet”, is typically made with butter, flour and sugar. It is made with vegetable oil, semolina flour, sugar and cardamom. The halwa has a texture similar to polenta and can be served on a plate or in a bowl or can be formed into bars. Be sure you use a very large pot because there is a lot of sizzling when the flour is added and splattering when the water is added.

Magic Cookie Bars Recipe

April 19, 2016 | by Annie | sweets

Magic Cookie Bars are a childhood favorite of mine. I remember the introduction of my mom’s recipe said this treat is called Magic Cookie Bars because they vanish as soon as you set them out! And they do magically disappear! In my version, I cut back a bit on the coconut and nuts and add butterscotch chips.
