Jemima J by Jane Green

You can’t help but fall in love with Jemima J.

This is a story about ugly ducklings and swans.  Jemima J is an overweight reporter who is looking for love and recognition in life.  Jemima J is secretly in love with her handsome co-worker but is sure he would never give her the time of day.   Persuaded by a friend to try online dating, Jemima J starts a journey to finding out what is truly important to her and what true love is.  Take this life journey with Jemima J who in the end finds out when you love yourself first, somehow everything else seems to fall into place.

Book Club Party Ideas for Jemima J

Since Jemima J was on a mission to loose 100 pounds this party theme was all about being healthy and still enjoying tasty food.  Because tonight was light and simple the only decorations that I used for the party were fresh daisies as a centerpiece on the table.  Sometimes less really is more.

I wanted to keep this book club light and easy all the way around. One of my favorite artist is Michael Bublé.  I had his CD Crazy Love playing low in the background as we enjoyed our dinner.  Listening to his love songs made me even happier for Jemima J that she was able to find her true love.

Jane Green is a bestselling author of popular novels. She has been featured in People, Newsweek, USA Today, Glamour, and Cosmopolitan. She lives in Connecticut with her family.

I was in a bit of a workout slump when I read Jemima J.  When I finished, I was motivated to go buy a new pair of running shoes and watch what I ate.  It really is amazing how great you feel inside and out when you are healthy and happy.  Below are some of my favorite quotes from the book:

“Because Jemima Jones never dared to believe in love. Jemima Jones never dated to believe in herself.  She never dared to believe that one of these days fate would actually take the time and trouble to pick her out from the crowd and smile upon her.”
“If I am totally honest about it, I haven’t felt myself since I lost weight and I never understood before how much I used the excess weight to protect myself.”
