Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Want to Reread

Top Ten Tuesday Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. The list this week: Top ten books I want to reread.  Lisa and Annie are both adding their top 5 choices to complete the Top Ten Tuesday.

Lisa

If only I had time to reread even a couple of the books I want to!  I want to reread 1984, Brave New World and Pillars of the Earth because I remember they made such an impression on me when I read them in my teen years.   Cutting for Stone and The Help were books that I had to sit for awhile when I finished to let it all sink in…I want to experience that again.

Annie

The top five books I would like to reread, simply because I was blown away by them the first time I read them are:

The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, Possession by A.S. Byatt, Foucault’s Pendulum by Umberto Eco, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and The Secret History by Donna by Tartt.

The Red Tent by Anita Diamant Possession by A.S. Byatt Foucaults Pendulum by Umberto Eco The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon The Secret History by Donna Tartt

I am also going to sneak in my three most beloved books that I have reread over and over and over again:   Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

  1. 1984 didn’t make my list but I would like to read it again. It’s been awhile and I’ve probably forgotten the details. It’s hard to make myself reread books when there’s so many I haven’t read yet! ahh!

  2. Lots of my favorites are in this post. The Red Tent, Cutting for Stone, and The Help. Great list!

  3. Lots of great reread worthy titles here! I would love to read 1984 and Brave New World for the first time. I enjoyed The Help too, and Secret History and Possession too. Happy rereading!

  4. When I reread Brave New World last year, I realized that I completely forgot about John! It was pretty funny. I had no memory of him at all, despite the fact that he was a main character.

I need to reread Possession, mainly because I forgot everything about it. It’s as if I didn’t read it at all. It’s the same with Slaughter House 5.

I own The Red Tent and 1984, but I haven’t read them yet. I’ve been meaning to read The Secret History for quite some time.

  6. Great selection! I LOVED The Help. I almost put 1984 on my list because apparently (according to my list of books I’ve read) I had already read this book… But I don’t remember having done so at all… Lol!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I want to reread Possession too, mostly because the first time I read it was a SUPER long time ago and I haven’t a clue as to what it’s about anymore =(

Ack, I really need to read 1984 one of these days. It’s one of those books that I think, “Well, it’ll be around forever” so I feel no rush ><"

  8. Most of these are books lurking on my TBR pile waiting for me to read them for the first time. Possession, The Red Tent, Cutting for Stone – all waiting for me. Looks like I’ve got lots of great reading ahead! :)

  9. Both are great lists! I love “Pillars”, The Shadow of the Wind and The Secret History. The only Eco book I read was The Name of the Rose… I’m not sure why I haven’t tried another one yet.
