Top Ten Authors I’d Love to Have at My Thanksgiving Feast

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish is very interesting indeed. A list of the Top Ten Authors I’d Love to Have at My Thanksgiving Feast.
And since this is MY fantasy Thanksgiving feast, I have included a few authors who are no longer with us.
1.) Joanne Harris (Chocolat) – Joanne will plan the menu. My Gosh! That multi-course meal that Vianne prepared for Armande’s birthday celebration in Chocolat remains the most remarkable and mouth-watering, delectably delicious passages I have ever read!

2.) & 3.) Carlos Ruiz Zafon (The Shadow of the Wind) and Charlotte Bronte (Jane Eyre) – I love the Gothic novel and here are two of my favorite authors in that genre! Carlos and Charlotte will cut up the veggies, and carve up the turkey.

4.) & 5.) Margaret Mitchell (Gone With the Wind) and Mary Doria Russell (Doc) – Margaret and Doc Holliday were cousins, and Mary Doria published a novel on the legendary gunman. Peggy may have even based her GWTW character Ashley Wilkes on Holliday! I’ll help these ladies with the gravy and dressing and soak up some Doc Holliday lore. And maybe I’ll find out if Scarlett and Rhett ever got back together!

6.) Ernest Hemingway (The Sun Also Rises) – Ernest is in charge of the cocktails and making sure everyone’s drinks are refreshed. Here is a man who knows how to have a good time … just wouldn’t introduce him to any of my single girlfriends!

7. Markus Zusak (The Book Thief) – I’ll let Markus help me with the dishes after the meal.

8.) & 9.) Garth Stein (The Art of Racing in the Rain) and Susan Orlean (Rin Tin Tin) - Garth and Susan will make sure my pooches get some table scraps and a long walk after dinner since I will be soooo busy with Markus and all those dirty dishes!

10.) Dr. Seuss (The Cat in the Hat) - No Green Eggs and Ham at this feast, but we will all gather ’round and Dr. Seuss will lead us in singing The Super Supper March and when it’s time for the evening to end he’ll gently say “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!”

Have a great turkey day!

Great list! I just read Doc a few months ago and loved it! Gone With the Wind is one of my favorites of all time as is The Book Thief.

I’m afraid Charlotte and her sisters have already accepted MY dinner invitation.
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post.

Your list really makes me want to re-write mine! (I was having a brain lapse when I wrote mine and struggled with my list!) But really? Margaret Mitchel? Ernest Hemingway? Doc Seuss? Geez! How did I not think of them??
Please stop over to check out my Teaser / Top Ten Tuesday post!

Wow! Carlos Ruiz Zafon would have been my 11th choice. I just love Shadow of the Wind. Wonderful choices and I’m sure you would have many great dinner table conversations!

Your list is great! Charlotte Bronte is one of my faves, but I’m not sure she would be willing to leave Emily and Anne behind. Better hide the bottles if Hemingway is invited!

I think it is so fun how you gave everyone jobs! It made me chuckle! Funnest list I’ve seen all day.
