Milk Punch with Bourbon and Brandy Recipe

Tina and Tiffany, our hostesses for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn book club party, found this fabulous recipe for milk punch on FoodNetwork.com.  I was thinking it would have the consistency of eggnog but was pleasantly surprised at the smoothness and lightness of this body warming drink.

This milk punch recipe is courtesy of Emeril Lagasse, FoodNetwork.com

Prep Time:  2 minutes      Cook Time:  3 minutes      Yields:  1 gallon

Milk Punch with bourbon and brandy

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. For the simple syrup:  In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water.  Stir and boil until the sugar dissolves and the liquid becomes a slight syrup.  Cool the syrup before using. Makes 1 cup.  Set the syrup aside.
  2. In a glass container, combine the bourbon, brandy, half and half, and vanilla, together . Stir the liquid until incorporated. Stir in the syrup to your own desired sweetness. Chill the punch well.  Serve the punch in chilled glasses and garnish with nutmeg (Use nutmeg grater).

Our Recommendations:

Vanilla Extract Whole Nutmeg Nutmeg Grater

  1. I don’t know why this just has immediately drawn me in! I am trying to return back to my vegan ways so I will have to use soy milk, perhaps? Well, anything with brandy, bourbon, vanilla extract…yep, it’s all good! :)

  2. Definitely the brandy, bourbon and vanilla make this drink – it is so delicious and I think soy milk would work perfectly.
