Instant Chai Tea Recipe

This is a 5 star chai tea recipe with just the right amount of spiciness and creaminess.

Prep: 15 minutes Servings: 36

Tea with cardamom, cinnamon stick


  • 1 cup nonfat dry milk
  • 1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer
  • 1 cup flavored powdered non-dairy creamer
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened instant tea
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Pinch of nutmeg


  1. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients. In a blender, food processor or coffee grinder, grind the mixture in batches until finely ground.
  2. Stir desired amount into a mug of hot water. (I likeĀ 2 tablespoons in a small mug and 3 tablespoons in a large mug, but add more or less to suit your taste.)

Coffee, spice grinder When I need to grind anything I love the efficiency of a coffee grinder. You need to do this recipe in several batches, but I find that it does an excellent job and is so easy to clean up. I actually have 2 coffee grinders…one for coffee and one for everything else. This Krups Coffee Grinder is my favorite.
